It’s that time of year again when everyone is getting ready for the start of the school term – whether that be the little ones on their first day, moving on up to secondary school or even the big jump to college or university. There are some essential items you need to think about when getting ready for the new year, so I’ve put together three mood boards to give you inspiration and some key products.

Primary School Ready

One of the essential times at primary school is, of course, lunchtime. You get to make new friends, learn new games and swap items from your lunchbox (I’ll swap you my apple for a Penguin biscuit!!). Clinton Cards in Queensgate has some great lunch items that are sure to put a smile on your child’s face and make them look on trend with everyone’s favourite characters from Frozen and Despicable Me (as all parents know, the summer was all about the Minions). I have only chosen three of each but there are plenty more to choose from in store.

  1. Frozen Lunch box- Clinton Cards £7.99
  2. Frozen Drinks Flask- Clinton Cards £3.99
  3. Frozen Food Storage and Cutlery Box – Clinton Cards £4.99
  4. Minion Lunch bag – Clinton Cards £7.99
  5. Minion Drinks Flask- Clinton Cards £3.99
  6. Minion Eraser Set, Clinton Cards £1.99

Secondary School Cool

Secondary school can be a daunting time: you’re introduced to algebra, foreign languages and Shakespeare’s sonnets (which can feel like another foreign language!). Tiger and Paperchase have the stationery you need to help you through this journey – and in the right budget band. Among those I have only selected include a diary, pop up calculator and everyone needs a protractor!

  1. Wild Aztec Lunch Bag- Paperchase £12
  2. Wild Aztec Maths Set- Paperchase £7.50
  3. Wild Aztec 15-16 Diary- Paperchase £8
  4. Batman Logo Messenger Bag- Menkind £24.99
  5. Pop Up Calculator- Tiger £1
  6. Black 15-16 Diary- Paperchase £5

My Choice Education

College is an exciting time when you get to choose all your own subjects, and can lead on to university. Things become much more independent and I have chosen a few items that became essential through my college and uni days. There is something about those teen to adult years that make it hard to get up early, so a flask for my much-needed coffee was a necessity. They are so many choices now compared to the plain silver flask I had; you can use them as your very own fashion accessory.

Laptops have also become an item that students take everywhere, so a nice laptop case to keep it safe from scratches is a real must-have. Earphones helped me block out all the chatter in study breaks so I could crack on with my work. Tiger has a great selection to choose from, in a great range of simple and quirky designs to suit any style. Finally, a pen is always useful to have floating in the bottom of your bag; even though everything is mainly electronic nowadays you never know when you will need one.

  1. Peg Dolls Flask- Paperchase £12
  2. Botanic Floral Laptop Pouch- Paperchase £12
  3. Inner Ear Headphones- Tiger £4
  4. Fatboy Giant Travel Mug- Menkind £6.99
  5. 15inch Laptop Bag- Tiger £6
  6. 3 Pack Ballpoint Pens- Tiger £1

Hopefully that has helped you choose some items to get ready for the start of term. Don’t forget the centre is open #L8 on Thursdays and Fridays with free parking after 5:30pm.
