It’s not often your Friday night begins in a department store but it’s for good reason with the multi-million-pound transformation of the John Lewis & Partners store within the Queensgate Shopping Centre. It’s taken months of hard work with scaffolding in store for much of the year but now the festive season is upon us, the new store is ready for all your gifting needs.
This new look has been hailed superior to the Oxford Street store due to its large spend on the departments, the biggest investment John Lewis & Partners has made nationally this year. The emphasis has been placed on the shopping experience to keep the high street the place to be this Christmas. So, what’s new?
The Style Studio – want to get the low down on what’s hot seasonally or some advice on getting your wardrobe in check? – This is the place to visit. The style studio has the opportunity to learn fashion insight from the in-house stylists and we can expect the departments to show off their latest ranges here. On Friday night we heard from the team at Whistles on their Autumn/Winter trends and the layout of the style studio was perfect for presenting without imposing on other shoppers in store.
The Beauty Studio – An outfit isn’t complete without your beauty routine and with party season underway, why not pop down to see what’s new with your brand-new beauty department! Many of the counters now have hands on, spa like opportunities for you to test out the products which brings in the destination experience that the store is looking to achieve.
Jo Malone has made a very welcome appearance with its iconic fragrances and Benito Brow Bar has also joined the department which means it’s easier than ever to ensure your brow game is strong and your lashes are fluttery.
Experience Desk – On the evening of the opening event, customers were guided to the experience desk. A new reception style area for customers to get involved in the store’s events, workshops or to speak to staff when looking for that special item. This will be available throughout the year and perfect for your style or product questions.
You will also notice new fashion areas in both the men’s and women’s departments with some final changes to be made to open the store up across all the floors going into the new year, don’t worry, the team is working around the clock to avoid disruption this Christmas.
If the thought of all of this shopping is making you tired, then fear not as John Lewis & Partners has unveiled a fabulous new café to recharge in, called Ori Caffe. With stunning interiors, fresh salads and artisan bakes from local Hambleton’s Bakery, this is ideal for those looking for an elegant place to dine. Oh, and they’re serving up prosecco and cocktails – need we say more!
In essence, the new store is a refreshing lift for the shopping centre and will be a great hub of activity and enticing changes over the seasons with the ability to adapt year-round. Tag in #JLPPeterborough and tag @queensgate_pb to show us what you pick up in store.
