Red (Royce) is the next car park to be renovated as part of Queensgate’s £10m four year project to completely refurbish and re-brand all four of its centre car parks.

The maintenance work, which is being carried out in four stages, will commence on Red (Royce) on January 16th. This phase will take approximately six months to complete and will see the newly refurbished car park open in time for summer and will avoid any unnecessary disruption during key shopping periods over Christmas and New Year.

Green (Clare) was the first car park to undergo the work last year and shoppers are now enjoying the benefits of the complete redecoration, a new cctv system, new and improved signage and refurbished lifts.

During this phase of the maintenance programme, the centre toilets on level 1 will also be undergoing a full refurbishment. While this work is being carried out, Queensgate is advising shoppers that there are alternative toilet facilities in John Lewis, M&S, Bhs, McDonalds and the bus station.

The four year project will also ensure that a state of the art fire system is in place, along with electric car charging points and a low energy lighting system, helping to further reduce Queensgate’s carbon footprint.

Sam Eastwood, centre director at Queensgate, comments: “Centre owners Hammerson and Aviva have invested a significant amount of money to roll out this carefully planned refurbishment programme which is running successfully and smoothly as demonstrated by the initial phase which saw the renovation of our Green (Clare) car park.

“Our car parks have been in operation for almost 30 years so it’s vital that we carry out this work now, in order to guarantee structural integrity, offer the very latest technologies and excellent facilities, ensuring they continue to serve shoppers for years to come.

“We fully acknowledge that there will be some level of disruption to our customers while work is carried out on Red (Royce) car park, however, having carried out a full appraisal of car park usage we are confident that we can continue to fulfil the parking needs of our shoppers . Once the work is complete, visitors to Peterborough city centre will benefit hugely from the new and improved car parking facilities.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused during our construction phase

Please be aware that there is limited direct access to lifts in our Blue (Cavell) car park therefore we recommend parking in our Green (Clare) car park.
