Peterborough Cathedral

From the railway line to the ring road, the huge sturdiness of the Norman structure makes it impact and as you draw closer, the majestic West Front and atmospheric inner space make it easy to see why this popular tourist spot is the much loved heart of the city for locals, worshippers and visitors alike.

The Cathedral’s primary function

As it has been for over 1300 years, the Cathedral's primary function is to provide a sacred space for the worship of God but today the Cathedral also offers an interactive exhibition, fascinating guided tours, a diverse array of arts and music based events, a well stocked gift shop and first class education, conferencing and hospitality facilities.

The Barchester Chronicles

The once famous set for the BBC hit series The Barchester Chronicles and also the resting place of two former queens, the Cathedral is soon to embark on a journey of development that will yet increase the appeal but with so much history, beauty and culture already here – it is the perfect choice to enhance your day out in Peterborough.
