Queensgate Environment Policy Statement
Queensgate is located in Peterborough and is owned by the Queensgate Limited Partnership is a joint venture between Hammerson plc, a leading European real estate company who operate principally in the UK and France, and Aviva one of Europe’s largest property fund managers. Queensgate provides an environment for retailers, both national brands and regional independents, to fulfil their potential.
Queensgate recognises the importance of taking a proactive, strategic approach to environmental management and in conjunction with Hammerson strives to be at the forefront of this area of management within its sector.
Queensgate complies with all relevant and other requirements and endeavours to exceed legal and other requirements where possible. By conducting periodic internal and independent reviews of our progress, as well as through engagement with stakeholders, we aim to achieve continual improvement.
Our pursuit of excellence is facilitated by our Environmental Management System, which enables the targeting and public reporting of our environmental performance, along with ensuring compliance in our daily operations. Hammerson set rigorous annual targets for Queensgate to work toward and we monitor our performance focussing on the following key objectives;
- To reduce waste and increase recycling. To substantially reduce our carbon footprint
- To maximise the efficiency of our use of natural resources
- To prevent pollution and contamination wherever possible
This policy will be made available to all, but in particular to all employees, advisors and contractors who have a key role to play if Queensgate is to meet its environmental policy commitments and objectives. In support of this, we will provide employees advisors and contractors with information on environmental procedures as well as any appropriate training. The policy may be viewed on Queensgate website, internal IT system or in hardcopy on staff notice boards and reception.
Responsibility for the overall governance and implementation of this policy lies with Queensgate senior management team, which is also tasked with periodically reviewing the policy and it objectives to ensure applicability and adherence to best practice. Responsibility for overseeing this policy and ensuring it is up held lies with the Centre Director of Queensgate who gives full support to it implementation.

- sent 8% less waste to landfi ll
- recycled 64% of our waste
- sent 168 tonnes of food waste for renewable energy
- became certifi ed by the Carbon Trust Standard to reduce emissions
- were named Retail Recycler of The Year at the National Recycling Awards
